Nonprofit

Filming for nonprofit projects both satisfies my need to give back to the world and brings me into contact with some of the world’s most amazing people. Here are some groups making a real difference that I’ve been proud
to work with:

Grizzly Creek Ranch – Promotional DVD for camp run by the Sierra Health Foundation in the northern Sierras for children with special needs.

Seeing Proof – A documentary with Rob Fruchtman in Cambodia about the Khmer Rouge. This brutal regime killed nearly two million people in the mid 1970s, but many of the new generation don't believe it happened. Funded by Open Society Institute.

From the Top, NPR – Video profile of a Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award recipient performing at Carnegie Hall.

Breast Cancer Fund – Videographer and photographer on several shoots, including a climb of Mount McKinley in Alaska and another of Mount Fuji in Japan. The Mount McKinley video, Climb Against the Odds has many awards and aired nationally on PBS’s “20/20” and ABC’s "Primetime." Olympia Dukakis narrates and background music is by k. d. Lang, Indigo Girls, and Celine Dion. Produced by Steve Michelson, Karen Carlson, and Jeanne Rizzo with the Breast Cancer Fund.

The program has been invaluable in raising awareness and funding for breast cancer research, education, and support.  A book and website for Climb Against the Odds, for which I’m a contributing photographer, is now available. Please visit the Breast Cancer Fund website to learn more.

YMCA – Promotional DVD with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for the California YMCA Youth and Government program and the YMCA Model UN. YMCA Program director Bud Sheble.

Child Advocates – Photographed a video project for a fundraiser.

The Power of One – A documentary on the impact one person can make in their community. The stories are varied from feeding the hungry in Oakland, to sending inner city kids to outdoor summer camps, to giving elderly senior their last dying wish, to providing clean water and medical care in rural Honduras. Produced by Kathy Catanho.

United Nations
Shot the behind the scenes as the United Nations celebrated its 60th birthday with seminars, a World Celebration with music and choirs, and a wide-ranging reform package. Produced by 20/20 Productions.
